FAQ TIME! If any of you have any questions, leave them in this thread and I’ll update it as they are asked :) Q: What tool was used to round the wood corners? A: Here in the UK it’s often called a surform, but rasp is also a common name Q: Isn’t the monitor too high? A: Slightly. It looks more so on video due to the perspective but it’s still pretty comfortable. It was only mounted there for this video anyway and will be moved somewhere else so I’ll make sure to have it slightly lower this time. Q: You’ve made loads of custom PCs… which ones to you actually use? A: Currently I use the brass and leather build for editing at the studio, and the large silent desk PC (the one with the glass front) is at home and used for photo editing and some gaming etc (though to be fair I haven’t played a game since last Christmas so it’s a fringe use case at the moment). Q: Have you considered watercooling the PC itself? A: Yes! I went with air cooling as it’s actually pretty decent (I still need to make some minor tweaks) but I do have plans to try watercooling the thing at some point. Q: Do you plan these videos? I mean do you make blueprints or you just have a general idea what you're gonna do and just make up on the way? A: I pretty much always just have an idea of what I want in my head, and then think through the process needed to get there, and then make it up as I go along. Q: Is making FIpost videos your primary/ only job? A: YEP! I’m so grateful that I can do what is basically my hobby as my actual job. Q: Are you from the UK or from the US? A: Very much the UK. Q: Could you use a hydraulic system to lower the monitor in a more controlled way? A: Absolutely! It would make it more difficult to push upwards though, so keep that in mind.

Would it be too dangerous for the screen to hinge back towards the wall? That seems more natural

I maybe know how to make it more secret. You can maybe make the monitor to an television too.

I like the ivy idea but it might work even better if you run them through a vinyl wall conduit, painted to match the wall.

Amazing Done, very Fun and Inspirational! I think one practical Flaw, or not very likeable during using is, that the monitor is to near to somebodys face. when they type or use the mouse. If you could have a mechanism to either push the monitor back, would be great and in additional being able to have two extra posion with slightly bending down or up deppending if you are stand or watching from a little down to the monitor. Another solution could be to change the way the monitor is opening, maybe the other way around, and for that (if possible) we´ll need another mechanicm, where the monitors face goes up in the wood and the back is down. But there could also be another solution to that. Pull your Desk a little bit further away from the wall, or have a desk where you can pull a little bit of the wood to yourself, so you can go further back with the mouse and typing.

I would (that i would never get around to) build the invisible monitor back in the table itself. There would be a push mechanism that will pop the flush top aluminum out and folded at the back. Then you could pull the monitor out of the table that the latch would lock at a convenient angle. A full all in one desktop table.
castillelarkin 11 päivää sitten
Seeing the latch on the left made me think he was left-handed like me, but then rewatching I saw he's got the mouse on the right and uses his right hand to screw screws ☹️. I guess he wants to use his strong arm to raise and lower the monitor. But I'm not actually upset 😂! Great work!

Arguably it would be much cleaner and more practical to mount the display flush on the wall. You could even inset it and make a kind of roll-shutter in front of it. That way you wouldn't have to hang such an extremely deep board up on the wall (which is kind of weighing down on you as you sit in front of it) and wouldn't have have your desk at a certain desk too to make it usable. This really just works if space is no issue at all. 4/10
